Read your own EPUB with translation

1. Have your EPUB ready

Use an .epub file without copy protection (DRM), up to 95 MiB, that you have the right to use. Download it to your phone or computer before you start.

PDFs and Kindle files in MOBI or AZW format are not supported. Changing a filename to end in .epub will not convert it. If your book only opens in a store’s app, check whether the store offers a separate EPUB without protection.

2. Add the book to your library

Sign in and open “Library”. Select “Upload EPUB”, then “Choose an EPUB file”. Pick your book and confirm with “Upload EPUB”.

Once processing finishes, select “Start reading” on the book’s card. If processing fails, follow the EPUB guidance beside the error. Some damaged or unsupported files cannot be opened.

3. Get help with a passage

Select a word, short phrase, or sentence. The translation appears beside the text. For an expression such as “ran into an old friend”, select the phrase rather than checking each word separately.

A new AI translation needs an internet connection, a verified email address, and available credits. Before your first use, the app explains what text it sends to the AI service. You can read without using AI.

4. Save a word and revisit it

After translating a word or short expression, select the bookmark-plus icon, “Save word”. Whole sentences are not saved as vocabulary cards.

The book icon in the reader toolbar, “Study words”, opens practice for your selected collection. To choose different books, open “Words”, make your selection, then choose “Open collection” and “Study”.

Try to remember the meaning before selecting “Show answer”. Rate your recall with “Forgot”, “Hard”, “Remembered”, or “Easy”. Choose “Hard” when you remembered it with effort. “Show hint” brings up the sentence from your book.

5. Pick up the story again

If you started practice from the reader, use “Back to book”. Otherwise, find the book in “Library” and select “Continue reading”.

Before going offline, open the book while connected on the device you plan to use, and let it finish loading. New AI translations need a connection. Your reading position will sync when you are back online.
